Welcome to Calheta Suites
Bom dia 🌺 We're Jeroen and Rachelle, and since May 2024 we've been living on the beautiful island of Madeira. At Calheta Suites, we welcome guests to our small-scale accommodation in Calheta, where personal hospitality, peace and comfort come first.
We first visited Madeira in June 2022. Although we'd heard many wonderful stories about the island, we instantly understood why so many people fall in love with it. The year-round mild climate, breathtaking scenery and warm hospitality made Madeira feel like home from the very beginning.
Before long, we started dreaming about building a new life here. One idea kept coming back: creating a place where we could welcome guests and share our love for Madeira.
We love helping our guests discover hidden gems, local traditions, scenic hiking trails, great restaurants, spectacular viewpoints and unforgettable experiences, so you can make the most of your stay in Madeira.
Renovated with Love
The moment we discovered the house that is now Calheta Suites, we knew it had something special. It wasn't perfect, but we immediately saw its potential. Our goal was to create a peaceful accommodation in Madeira that combines authentic island character with the comfort we always look for when travelling ourselves.
The renovation was a true labour of love. Almost every room was transformed, and many of the design decisions were made by us personally. We carefully preserved the character of the original house while choosing natural materials, warm colours and a timeless interior that reflects the relaxed atmosphere of Madeira.
Suite Jardim was once the property's storage room. By lowering the floor, we created a surprisingly spacious suite without losing its cosy atmosphere. Suite Vinha takes its name from the old wine room where grapes were traditionally pressed. Today, that same space is home to a heated outdoor pool with beautiful views of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.
